Manilva is a municipality which lies on the coast at the southwesternmost edge of the province of Málaga on its border with the province of Cádiz in the autonomous community of Andalusia in Spain.
Why Manilva? – Manilva is a coastal town in the province of Malaga. It is in the west of the province, bordering the town of San Roque and very close to Cádiz. It is a very tourist town, especially in summer due to its good climate and ambience.

Manilva, between Gibraltar and the Costa del Sol, is a famous destination for golfers and has 320 days of sunshine a year. It’s a Golfer’s paradise. La Duquesa Golf Country Club, Dona Julia Golf Club and Casares Costa Golf are all within a short walk or drive of each other
Beaches – The beaches in the Manilva area are some of the best on the Costa del Sol, and remain fairly uncrowded during the summer months.
The beaches of Manilva stretch over 8 km and boast fine sand and clear waters and the promenades are lined with flowers and palm trees.
- Playa de Chullera or Punta de Chullera – Rocky beach, especially popular for its great views and clean water; perfect for underwater fishing.
- Playa de las Arenas or El Gobernador – Straight beach with sandstone formations. Between two rocks you find the little Cala de la Sardina (sardine bay). Being a relatively quiet place, it suits perfectly for a peaceful day at the beach or some fishing.
- Playa del Negro – Straight beach with long, gentle hills plunging down the sea. It stretches between the Cala de la Sardina and arroyo de Alcorrin.
- Playa de los Toros – Wide beach with nice scenery; Its coast is occupied with different urbanizations. Its name beach of the bulls’ dates to times when cattle were driven through Cañada Real de Los Barrios to Estepona.
- Playa de la Duquesa or El Castillo – This beach is located next to the marina La Duquesa.
- Playa de Sabinillas – It stretches between the marina and the river Manilva. The village San Luis de Sabinillas is located on its coast.
Golf – Being located on the Costa del Golf, means that Manilva is located within an area with a high density of golf courses, including La Duquesa, Alemnara in Sotogrande, Alcaidesa Golf in San Roque, Doña Julia in Casares and El Paraiso in Estepona, to name just a few. Manilva offers a perfect central location to reach the many golf courses on the Costa del Sol.
The golf course La Duquesa surely has its share of popularity, with amazing views of the course. The design uses breathtaking views and uneven terrain to create a unique atmosphere. Due to the mild climate, you can enjoy this sport -except for a few days – during the whole year.
For non-golfers, the region offers activities like tennis, paddle, billiard, snooker, ping-pong, gyms, Jacuzzi, indoor swimming pools, restaurants, etc. Willing beginners find a golf academy in Sotogrande, just about 15 minutes away.
Eating out – The area offers a good selection of beach-side restaurants and options located in the urbanisation and commercial area. There are a few bars, but no discos and late-night bars.
Climate – Manilva like the rest of its counterparts on the Costa del Sol enjoys a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. Cooling breezes from the sea make the summer heat manageable, temperatures are an average of 32 ºC in summer.
The benefits of long-term rental in Manilva
Renting an apartment in Manilva as a long-term rental is a great idea. A long-term rental is as this will give you a base to visit all the beautiful areas around Manilva in the Costa del Sol and sample all the local dishes and local customs.
The budget you have will determine the type of property for your long-term rental. The lower budget end at around €1,000pm is a Small to medium apartment, €1,500 would be a large apartment or penthouse apartment, €2,000 would be a small townhouse, and over €2,500 would be a larger townhouse or villa. If you’re one of the lucky ones, and you’re not working towards a budget on a long-term rental, a luxury villa could cost you in the region of €5,000 per month.
